This is the journal. It's about the closet you already have — the one four feet from where you sleep, which is better than you think and less known to you than it should be.
We'll publish three kinds of things here. Findings, when we've actually counted something and can show the counting — every number in a finding comes with its receipts, and a finding without receipts doesn't run. How-tos, for the craft parts: photographing a sweater so it looks like itself, packing from what you already reach for, asking a friend for the dress she wore in May. And essays, when we have an argument and are prepared to be wrong about it in public.
A few things this is not. It's not a trends feed; other people cover the runways well and we read them like everyone else. It's not a countdown, a challenge, or a program — nothing here is due, which is also true of the app we're building. And it's not a brochure. We make Volley, a closet app, and we'll say so when it's relevant and shut up about it when it isn't.
One promise, and it's the whole editorial policy: we'd rather publish nothing than publish a number we can't show you the origin of.
That's it. The closet's been waiting. Let's look at it properly.
